How effective are Entertaining/Wacky Commercials?

Why Old Spice Commercials are effective.

4/29/18

If you ever have seen a commercial that made entirely no sense, but still remains to be embedded in your brain, most likely it would be Old Spice. To begin, Old Spice is a male deodorant brand. The company usually targets male teens, young men, and even moms. Initially, it conveyed the message that their(mothers) sons need this product and that it would make their son more appealing towards the female eye. However, commercials diverted from its original audience and onto young men and teens. For example, commercials nowadays portray wacky figures(see picture above), irrational situations, and anything that you could see from Alice In Wonderland. Furthermore, these commercials seem like they don't make any sense and you right, they don't. Thus, raising the question why these commercials are so effective, still running, and are able to convey their message even if it may be vague or unclear.

To begin, such commercials draw attention towards the viewer. Furthermore, despite the commercial making no logical sense, it brings positive/negative controversy. Primarily because when you're trying to decipher the meaning of the commercial, the advertisers already fufilled their initial purpose, you thinking of the product. For example, the above picture(The Amazing World Of Gumball) actually did a reference to Old Spice with the claim that such commercials were funny/wacky.
As a result, people develop sides on the commercial; mostly whether is plain stupid or funny. However, whatever argument that may arise only brings more attention to the product, which is beneficial to the company and advertisers.

In my opinion, I think these commercials are really effective. They're wacky, funny, and just plain stupid, however, I still enjoy them. Furthermore, if I ever come across an Old Spice Commercial, I'm able to detect it right, because it's so memorable.

The song was published on May 5, 2018, and was followed by large controversy. Within the video, Donald Glover explicitly shows the reality of gun violence, and brings to light the social issues throughout the background and shots. These shots are subtle and but implicitly show how they're important as well when contrasted by the more lively actions portrayed by Donald Glover himself.        Within the video, Donald Glover explicitly shows the reality of gun violence by replaying events, one of which references the Charleston shooting. To begin, the first verse talks about entertainment media and transitions onto the first killing. To verse drastically changes to the chorus, the camera quickly averts its attention, the victim is dealt with, and the weapon qui

Making Cents Out of Teens

Making Cents Out of Teens 5/19/18  Upon watching PBS Frontline’s “Making Cents out of Teens,” it didn't really surprise me. I know that companies make lots of assumptions about teens, most of them beginning with, "All teens want or need this". On the other hand, I realize that companies try to project their own image of the "ideal" teenager based on focus groups and interviews. Overall, I would just be talking about the disadvantages of their advertising techniques and I am just going to give my two cents on the issue. To begin, the advertisers within the film generally made the assumption that most teens are attracted to sex, violence, and excitement. As a result, advertisers cater to their audience's needs. To the point in which products or shows become overly vulgar or fan-service orientated. This just has a chain effect as more and more products revolve around this assumption. Secondly, the entire projection of a mook or midriff seems
